Community Heritage Partners

Since 1985, this Lancaster, PA architectural firm has drawn on architecture, planning, urban design, historic preservation, and real estate strategies to invent practical and innovative design solutions, and to find new active uses for under-utilized properties and older buildings.

The Challenge

In late 2008 the firm was making a big move to a new space and was facing a crossroads: should they radically change their branding—even considering a name change—or would a refresh be enough to get them through the next quarter century? Not Bad Design worked with them to find a happy medium that honors its past while looking to the company’s future.

The Solution

We created a fresh, new logo and brand identity that felt modern, while paying homage to the company’s past. An interesting touch is the logomark, which is based on historic maps of Lancaster Square before it was altered. This very much reflected the firm’s mission of finding new uses for old buildings, and creating new works that live in harmony with existing historical structures. In addition to branding, we built them a new website, created marketing material, and designed the exterior graphics for their new building.
